At the end of 2023 Hal Leonard Company combined with Muse Group (more information you can find here) and together are now a single company that aims to revolutionize the music industry by using their expertise and resources to offer innovative solutions for musicians, teachers and music lovers around the world.

We are seeking for a General Manager for Music Instruments & Print Division, who will lead Hal Leonard’s Musical Instruments (MI) and Physical Print Sheet Music businesses, with a focus on expanding the MI business into the B2C market, driving growth, and improving operational efficiency. This hands-on leadership role requires a strong background in operational management, with a proven ability to manage P&L, develop strategic partnerships, and oversee print and distribution operations. While the role requires broad expertise, strong knowledge of musical instruments and print distribution is highly desired, as it is essential to effectively driving business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Set and execute the strategic vision for the MI & Print Division, focusing on growth, market expansion, and operational efficiency. Lead with a hands-on approach, leveraging deep operational management expertise and strong industry knowledge.
  • Operational Management: Oversee print and distribution operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Drive initiatives that increase revenue and optimize processes within the physical print business while maintaining quality standards.
  • P&L Responsibility: Manage the P&L for the MI & Print Division, with a focus on achieving and exceeding revenue growth and profitability targets. Align financial performance with broader company objectives.
  • Market Expansion & Growth: Lead the expansion of the MI business into the B2C market, developing and implementing strategies across e-commerce, marketing, and customer engagement channels.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships that support the division’s growth objectives. Leverage these partnerships to expand product offerings and enhance market presence.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Ensure the team is equipped to drive both B2B and B2C growth.
  • Innovation & Efficiency: Implement initiatives that improve operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce costs. Drive innovation within both MI and print operations to maintain a competitive edge.

Required Experience:

  • Strong operational management experience with a proven track record of driving business growth and improving efficiency.
  • Successful experience in D2C direction and understanding this field.
  • Proven ability to manage P&L and achieve financial results in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships that drive growth and market expansion.
  • Strongly desired: Knowledge of musical instruments and print distribution, with an understanding of industry dynamics and customer needs.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a hands-on approach to driving success.
