Engraving Specialist and QA Engineer

MuseScore Studio is looking for an Engraving Specialist and QA Engineer combined in one role to help shape the future of our notation engine and ensure world-class engraving quality across the product. This position is ideal for someone with deep knowledge of professional music engraving standards and experience in software development. This is a fully remote role, and you can work from any location.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform detailed quality checks on all engraving-related PRs.
  • Support the MuseScore Studio QA team through routine smoke testing on Mac, Windows and Linux, to uphold high-quality engraving and notation behaviour.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to gather requirements and prepare specifications and design briefs for upcoming engraving-related features.
  • Provide expert guidance on engraving appearance and notation conventions – especially for contemporary classical music – and recommend new features and improvements.
  • Write engraving-specific release notes and user documentation for each release.

Required experience

  • Expertise in music notation and professional engraving and publishing standards across a wide range of musical styles
  • A minimum tertiary qualification in music.
  • Development experience is highly preferred
  • English: Fluent
