QA Automation Engineer
We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer who will help us build and scale reliable automated testing for our mobile and web products. In this role, you will not only write tests but also shape the automation strategy, improve the testing infrastructure, and help the QA team adopt automation practices.
Key responsibilities
Test Automation
- Develop and maintain end-to-end automated tests for mobile applications (React Native / Detox) and web applications (React / Playwright)
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Improve and maintain the existing test automation infrastructure, including a custom Detox service layer
Strategy & Prioritization
- Define the automation strategy: what should be automated, at which level (unit, integration, E2E), and in what order
- Select and implement tools and frameworks for test automation
- Monitor test reliability and investigate flaky tests to improve stability
Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing
- Help manual QA engineers transition to automation through workshops, code reviews, and pair programming
- Create guidelines, templates, and best practices for writing automated tests
- Build a culture where automation is a shared responsibility across the QA team
Required experience
Must Have
- 3+ years of experience in test automation for mobile and web applications
- Hands-on experience with test environment setup and configuration in complex CI/CD pipelines
- Mobile: test app variants, signing certificates, simulators
- Web: headless browsers in CI, cross-browser testing, SSR-related challenges
- Strong experience with JavaScript / TypeScript (our stack is fully JS-based: React, React Native, Detox)
- Experience with Detox or Appium for mobile E2E testing
- Experience with Playwright or Cypress for web E2E testing
- Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins)
- Solid Git workflow skills (branching, pull requests, code reviews)
- Experience validating analytics events (event firing, payload schema validation, analytics endpoint delivery)
- Ability to make independent architectural decisions regarding test automation
Nice to Have
- Understanding of React Native at a level sufficient to read application code and create stable selectors
- Experience with visual regression testing (Percy, Chromatic, or similar tools)
- Experience with React Testing Library / Jest for component testing
- Experience with REST API test automation (Postman/Newman, Supertest, or similar)
- Experience working with A/B testing frameworks and feature flags, including testing multiple experiment variants
- Experience mentoring or training engineers
- Music background as a big plus
