UX Design Awards 2023: MuseScore 4 wins Public Choice vote

News

We’re delighted to announce that MuseScore 4 has won the Public Choice Award, an outstanding accolade in the UX Design Awards 2023.

The UX Design Awards were established by the IDZ (International Design Centre) Berlin, to celebrate global product design and innovation. More than 24,000 votes were cast in the vote for the Public Choice Award this year. MuseScore 4 came out on top as the public’s favorite in a field that included nominated projects by Samsung, Philips and HP inc.

The award is recognition of how highly the MuseScore community values the user-experience and accessibility of the free, open-source, desktop composition app.

The latest version, MuseScore 4, marked a major user-experience milestone for digital composition software, with huge improvements in score creation, engraving and playback. Highlights include faster navigation systems, customizable interfaces, high-quality Muse Sounds for orchestral playback, plus Leland, a bespoke notation font.

These were developed through extensive interviews and surveys with composers, alongside the valuable assistance of the MuseScore open-source community. UX improvements have developed even further in the latest update MuseScore 4.1, which includes a groundbreaking Braille view for blind and partially sighted composers.

Many congratulations to the team behind MuseScore 4: Martin Keary, Vasilij Pereverzev, Bradley Kunda, Simon Smith, Jessica Williamson, Peter Jonas, Michele Spagnolo, Aaron Sattely, Roman Pudashkin, Igor Korsukov, Casper Jeukendrup, Dmitry Arefiev, Borys Kuzmenko and Elnur Ismailzada.

And many thanks to all the composers, engravers and musicians who voted for MuseScore 4!
